here we go!
Posted Sunday, 09 April 2006
Ben and I arrived safely in Hong kong and have been buzzing around doing the usual tourist trail. I won't bore you with details...top high lights; hot egg custard tarts, giant Buddha, pretty city lights, making the local laugh with our shoddy Cantonese and getting our fortunes told. along with many others.

We left London lunch time and arrived 8am...heywot??! I just don't get it...we decided that to navigate ourselves round Hong Kong with no sleep was just stupid, so I came up with the idea of going to a theme park for laugh..sleep depraved logic was that you can get lost in it and having no sleep is pretty trippy so an ocean theme park would be a hoot. I found myself staring at the aquariums a bit too long, but whenever we felt droopy we went on a rollacoaster ride...i tell you what, it did the trick...until the afternoon ( we were there for hours) when there was like a 'holiday on ice' show to an Ian Brown track with the skaters dressed as clowns...well at least I think other people could see it..i did have to elbow Ben and ask if he could see it too.

We got to see Pandas. I learnt they spend 51% of their time sleeping, 41% eating and the rest being 'active'. Hands up who wants to be a panda? I think they could improve their stats on having sex?

We managed to get chatting to a local guy in a bath robe outside a Mosque in the Soho area (not Ocean theme park that would just be weird) about macro economics of Hong Kong. He had a wise beard, wore a dressing gown and smelt a bit. I suspect he was the local nutter you'd normally swerve...but he was great and made complete sense to us...we knew an awful lot about the Queen Buck Palace and the National Trust, but had never been to UK... I was learning from him.

relatives will be glad to know it is actually quite difficult to get drunk in Hong Kong as they don't have bars or sell loopy juice in the restaurants. So you have to go to a grotty ex pat area full of Yates type thing and Irish theme bars full of drunk westerners hitting on local girls..those of you from Brighton think West street Saturday Night business men away from wifey, with cash to flash and beautiful young Asian girls...yuk yuk yuk. We hot footed it to a gay bar. i am keeping this clean, so I won't go into what we discovered and how we discovered it! (actually it is not that interesting, just teasing).

We got our fortunes told outside a temple for a laugh. He read our faces and palms. He said I will live to 80, have lower back problems (true), will work in the women's clothes business (ey?) but not in my home country, I will be lucky in my 30-40's, 41 being best age. He said i don't look like my Dad ( true he is a 61 year old man), I shouldn't go out with Rats (sign) (people have been telling me that for years). and I will have 3-4 children, but 2 is enough. er yeah I'd say so! I will have a lots of children because I am sexy lady and strong ( i was showing a little cleavage!). Also I am hard working ( no comment from you Steve/Debbie and anyone that's worked with me), but will 'get lazier if I don't shut my mouth'...that's what my appraisals always say. He said that i fell in love when I was younger, but it was meant to end ( hi Del!).

I am not sure about his credentials as he didn't spot that Ben was a woofter. Ben's to marry a fat woman, who will have a kind heart and have 2 children. he has to eat more veg and do exercise in the morning and go into business alone. he has to watch his kidneys. you wot!
