Sun, sea and the rest
Posted Wednesday, 20 September 2006
Bangkok still doesn't rock my world, but fortunately I now find myself in a sort of paradise! we popped in popped in to see Ewen and collect our stuff that he has kindly been storing and gave him (i think you will agree Ewen) quality tat from Cambodia including a bit of Bamboo that does a 'doyng doyng' noise.

We've been in the Thai islands of Koh Tao and I've just arrived at Koh Pha Ngan home of the full moon parties, white sand, palm tress and crystal blue water second only to Brighton of course. In Koh Tao Ben bravely went on a diving course. unfortunately there isn't an awful lot else to do other than diving. I hopped on board Ben's boat for a bit of snorkeling which was kinda nice, but then I just got freaked out but the (pretty) fish swimming in my face. but the Thai boat hand man kept telling me to get in the water. So i escaped to top deck to avoid the peer pressure. However I found that the other way to spend the time on the island is to drink like a fish. I found a solid drinking partner and great laugh Rachel (from Ireland) and sampled the beach parties. My guest house staff loved taking the mick out of me as I crawled in at 9am asking for bottles of water. usual drunken tom foolery ensued, skinny dipping etc ( probably really offending the locals fortunately there weren't many witnesses).

One night I found myself over looking the sea far up a mountain ( which i thought I would have a heart attack climbing up) swinging in a hammock watching the sun rise from a bungalow, being passed a beer from Olly a kindly Belgium bar man who took me and Rachel under his wing. the street dogs that followed us were frolicking under the hammock which resulted in a nice rhythmic sway and I thought to myself "this is alright!". I congratulated Olly on living the dream.

Ben has selfishly left me this morning to go to Australia or some such nonsense. so I've moved on to Koh Pha Ngan where I reside in a rather nice beach bungalow few yards from a scene of picture postcard stunning beach.

However it is not all paradise as the God dam football is everywhere and people of all nationalities are getting all excited out here watching silly men kicking a ball around on big screens ruining a good drink. We managed to find a tiny bar that had a band that played REALLY BAD cover versions and anyone could join in to great amusement instead.

anyway I have to got and do a bit more of nothing much and find out where tonight's shin dig is.
