| we had a little trip west of Bangkok to Kanchanaburi where we experienced the 'Land of smiles' the guide book says you will experience in Thailand. Bangkok people are mardy and taking a look at the braided tie die messed up people i can well understand why. We stayed on a river raft house over the river Kwai/e which was great authentic experience as long as the massive floating karaoke disco goes past, then your teeth rattle the whole room moves with a similar sensation to when your drunk and you want to throw. the frogs are numerous and loud and will keep you awake if the floating noise machine doesn't, but you do see a lot of dried dead frogs on the road so their is a little justice in the world.. I made a dead frog handbag joke to a veggie...yeah, didn't go down well. other than that the views are amazing... we did the usual tourist stuff of visiting the bridge over the river kwai, the museum about the POWS and war cemetery's all very interesting and moving stuff. we did a tourist tour which encompassed going to the most beautiful tropical aqua blue 7 tier waterfalls with cheeky monkeys chucking stuff st you, tropical butterflies and twisted tree roots...it was just like a shampoo ad..also an elephant ride and we experienced our first tropical rain storm floating down the Kwae river on a bamboo raft..wow maan! Next day with a film maker guy we had befriended, we hired Kayaks and spent an afternoon floating down the river (12kms) until sunset... trying to get a coke from a floating restaurant was a but tricky involving a human/kayak chain holding on for dear life and realising that we had actually asked for a glass of coke...so down they passed a nice glass, ice and a bottle of coke...come on guys you must have had stupid tourists before floating pass before we are not skilled kayakers OK!? I literally couldn't move my top half of my body the next day and met up again for recuperative massage...hmm turned out to be a little interesting as we had three well made up women who all tried to give us a little extra...Ben had his nipples tweaked, i had my breasts kneaded like dough and Steve just had a full on groping...we all came out feeling a little violated and got a beer. | ||
