We drove north from Auckland to the beautiful Bay of Islands area and stayed in the little town of Pahia. This place used to be known as ‘the hellhole of the south’ but things seem to have picked up since then.

We went on a boat trip where Jim and Tim swan with dolphins and then met a crazy American/Aussie couple with whom we got absolutely trashed. It turned out they were nudists and he was a lecturer at MIT who also owned a chain of rock-climbing clubs and played a church organ in his million-dollar home. It all seemed more plausible at the time...
