Farang and lepruchans Posted Wednesday, 28 March 2007 |
| | | Obviously put up by a foreigner ('farang' is slang for foreigner - it derives from the word for 'French' as in much of Indochina during colonialism France was in charge and therefore all Westerners were assumed to be French).
The sign is suggesting that not all foreigners are cashed up and actually some are scummy backpackers who can barely afford a beach hut, a diving course, copious beers and an eighth of grass - so don't be coming up to me asking me to buy sunglasses, mate.
The sign also seems to suggest that foreigners are all Irish elfs. I think they are on shakier ground with that proposition. | | Comments |
